OUR ROOTS
Our vision for Higher Vibrations Forest School is birthed from the lack of opportunity for urban city children to be immersed in woodlands and green space, depriving them from all the physical and emotional benefits.
Despite a growing trend, forest schools are not easily assessable to a lot of children, some of whom may not have access to a garden. Higher Vibrations Forest School started as free sessions in woodland spaces and still currently provides forest school sessions to nurseries and local community groups. We are now blossoming with our very own nursery setting in Upper Norwood! We have a lot of experience and passion in providing childcare outdoors and in woodland environments.
FOREST SCHOOL
The forest school approach origins in the wilds of Scandinavia and has been recognized in the UK since 1993. It is a child-centred learning process that inspires holistic growth through long term, regular exploration and supported risk taking in a natural setting. At HV Forest School Nursery we aim to develop children's confidence and self esteem through hands on experiences.
CONNECTING CHILDREN TO NATURE~LEARNING THROUGH PLAY
Our learning takes place in the natural environment outdoors daily in most weather conditions, apart from those deemed dangerous by the Forest School Leader and Nursery Manager. This means we even play outside in the rain! Parents are provided with a kit list so that children can be safely dressed appropriate for the weather for as much uninterrupted play outdoors. Once children are registered on our roll we provide a set of overalls that are kept at the nursery so they can be at the ready when needed.
We are based within a 13 1/2 acre public woodland (apart of the Great North Wood) with access to our own private nature garden to explore. Children will learn about the woodland eco systems and sustainability of the woodland environment. Play can include anything between mud kitchens, nature art, den building, story telling, hammock play and climbing trees, the learning opportunities outdoors with us are endless!
EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE
Higher Vibrations Forest School Nursery tailors activities with children’s needs in mind. Supporting children to learn and develop in a safe yet stimulating environment. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) specified by OFSTED. They set out the standards that childcare providers must meet for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5.
EQUALITY
We believe that forest school should be accessible to all and are committed to ensuring that children have equal access to the curriculum on offer regardless of their gender, religion, cultural, linguistic, social-economic background or special educational needs. We welcome the opportunity to celebrate uniqueness and diversity in our setting.
SAFEGUARDING
Safeguarding children whilst allowing them to take supported risks is an important part of our approach, however we do take safeguarding children from harm seriously and have a number of measures in place to protect children from harm. This includes are recruitment processes, risk assessments and making sure staff are trained accordingly.
COMMUNICATION
Parents know their children best! therefore we are keen to build great relationships with them. Evidence suggests that joint working benefits children who are better equipped to learn and develop by having support from both nursery staff and their parents/carers. Good communication can fosters piece of mind for parents as well as helps us gain a greater understanding of the needs and likes of the children we care for.

At Higher Vibrations Forest School Nursery, our mission consists of providing a warm and nurturing environment where children feel safe. Our unique Nursery is based in 13 1/2 acres 5.46 hectares of what was apart of the Great North Woods. We offer various activities that are specifically designed to encourage each child’s growth. Through cooperative play and creative activities, children reach their milestones naturally and with ease. At the heart of our mission is

FEES
All our fees include consumables snacks, meals, provisions and outings.
£200 enrolment fee applies which includes a set of Didriksons and nursery vest, 2 settling in sessions and admin costs. £30 to join waiting list (only refunded once first months payment is received)
The nursery closes for all public & bank holidays in England, two weeks over the
Christmas period and for three Inset Days p.a.
In order to give your child the best care and to settle comfortably, we ask for a minimum of 2 days attendance per week of which one day must be either a Monday or a Friday to help balance our bookings.
